DEVA (Sanskrit): An angelic being from a
world of wonders.
This is Rainer Tillmann's 5th creation, and another masterful, meditative
jewel of sound, exclusively featuring Crystal Singing Bowls.
At first, the singing bowl novice tends to think that once you hear one, you
have heard them all. No true ! To the Western eye, all Chinese look alike,
but once you live among them, you can observe as many differences as in your
own culture. The same applies to singing bowls -- the differences in sound
are many-hued. |
The singing bowls on this album
are exclusively crystal ones, with their mysterious, contemplative sounds,
incomparable to any other musical instrument. Crystal singing bowls are
modern-made, whereas the metal singing bowls come from an ancient past. With
a subtle backing of tubular bells and chimes, you embark on a journey thru'
an enchanting wonderland of the elements of Mother Earth. At first, you can
picture the vast sky, with slow moving clouds, as the element air; next
comes the solid mountains of earth, followed by the water element in the
still mountain lakes, concluding with the majestic trees - life itself.

The Audible Life Stream
Shabda is the sanskrit expression of the
celestial sounds which the meditator is hearing inside when the soul goes beyond the realm
of mind and maya, and reaches Trikuti, the first sphere above the third eye. The sound is
said to be incredibly beautiful. The Shabda works like a 'tractor beam' towards the final
goal, Sat Lok, the ultimate home of the soul.
"The Shabda is not a physical tone,
although it may be accompanied by such, but a spiritual one. The ear cannot hear it, but
the Heart can. The mouth cannot produce it, but the Spirit can."

The art of playing on singing bowls is mastered by Rainer Tillmann, using only
unaltered, pure, natural sounds, without any studio or computer manipulation. If you want
a continuous tapestry of sound, very condusive for meditative practises, this CD is
excellently yours. It can be used for meditation on the sounds of bowls, or as a
meditation background for yoga, massage, meditation, painting, reading, etc.

The 'seed sound',
indicating that out of which sound all things growAccording to the law of resonance, chaotic sounds create chaos, and
harmonic sounds create harmony. In our world, we are surrounded by some many polluting
frequencies (noises, e.m., radio, tv, radiation), it is very wholesome to take a regular
"sound bath" in harmonic sounds, which create harmony in our body, mind and
soul.
This recording contains pure, meditative
sounds, which correlate with the planetary ratio harmonies, as have been calculated as
early as the 1600's.

sounds -- with their natural occurring under- and overtones, the so-called "harmonics

| There is virtually no limit in
the healing power of overtones, produced by the oriental "singing bowls" -
heritage of the Tibetan temples and monasteries. Research has revealed that the impact of
sound waves from these traditional instruments can be therapeutic in many ways. This
soundtrack is most suitable for therapeutic practice, like massage, Reiki, chakra
balancing or just for a pleasant relaxation or tender love making. |
For over one hour,
the listener can bathe in a very pure and calming sound atmosphere. The instruments are
various bowls, bells and gongs, finely in tune for a simple but awesome interplay, from

A
Shower of Sound |
This meditation begins softly
with the soundings of small tibetan bowls, which has a frofound calming effect on the
listener, the attention is directed inward. Then the heavy sound of the large gongs is
permeating the air.
The gongs are seldom literally pounded upon, they are rather lighyly
touched by the big felt hammer. The deep sound slowly expands to a sometimes overwhelming
granduer, in a large number of harmonic subsounds and overtones. It is as if the
fundamental tone - which seems to come directly from the center of the earth - contains
mysterious hidden messages, which only one can perceive through intense concentration. |
Sometimes it seems
as if your body cannot handle this shower of sounds - like an airplane that passes over
very low altitude - but, if you are able to surrender to this profound experience, almost
immediately there will be a kind of shift in conscious.
The very low vibrations are even more physical perceptible than audible:
all the body tissues and fluids are resonating with the vibrations of the gongs: a shower

With both his shamanistic skills
and his subtle artist's touch, Hans De back succeeds once again in keeping his audience in
a spellbound attention during this performance on several bells, bowls and other
instruments of the far East.
In the first two parts of this recording, the only instruments are the smaller Singing
Bowls from Nepal, which have a very high pitch and a etheric sound.A light, rhythmic
interplay in a simple but haunting beauty with endless harmonic overtones.
The third part is played on sounding bells, the Tibetan flat bottom bowls which sound more
primitive then the Nepal bowls and bells.
The fourth part contains a rhythmic percussion instrument, the 10 tone chink drum,
reminding us of the deep African jungle. |
On part five we find ourselves
back with the Tibetan and Bhutan bowls, now consisting of a whole range of bells from
small to big, all their own individual colors of sound. Still this music is very soft and
light, in pulsating waves of rhythm, never too ecstatic. The overtones are absolutely
marvelous on this track.
The sixth part of this recording has the same set of bowls, but this time in amore serene,
inward mood. Very meditative, in a typical Asian tone setting.
In the seventh and last part, the instrument is the Japanese Koto rather primitive and 16
stringed, melancholic and definitely Chinese in atmosphere.Total playing time 58.36'
